Sydney is the urban hub of Australia and is also its oldest and largest city, with a population of around four million. It is a really cosmopolitan city, with lots of skyscrapers and buzzing night life, heaps of unique restaurants as well as much shopping as you can take. Aside from all this, it's a naturally beautiful city - from the Opera House to Sydney and Darling harbour, surrounding bush and world famous surf beaches.

How to get around
- Sydney's only airport is Kingsford Smith International Airport. The easiest way to get to/ from here is by train - a cheap option and quick option, only a 15 minute train journey from the city centre.
- Train, bus and ferry are the most popular forms of transport in Sydney and are all pretty cheap and easy to navigate.
- Drive on the left side of the road if you're driving!
Going out
- There is great food to be had in Sydney - check out Chinatown, the Sydney fish markets at Darling Harbour and much more
- Most pubs and clubs close in Sydney around 3am and don't forget your ID, most places won't let you in without it.
- There is a massive going-out scene in Kings Cross, most backpackers head here, or to city clubs or Irish pubs in Bondi!

- Check out a show at the famous Opera House
- Watch a movie in Darling Harbour, home to one of the Southern Hemisphere's biggest cinema screens at the Imax Theatre
- Have a cocktail overlooking the city atop Australia Square, one of the city's highest skyscrapers

- Cruise around the harbour on any of the commuter ferries - see the city from the water in the cheapest way!
- Visit Taronga Zoo
- Scale The Harbour Bridge
- Take surf lessons in Bondi, Manly or Coogee
- Book a wine tour in the famous Hunter Valley, a drive from Sydney
- Go walking or climbing in The Blue Mountains, a short trip from the city!

- Walk the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk
- Check out the views at both North and South Head
- Visit Palm Beach (about 1 hour's drive north) famous for the filming of the TV series, Home and Away
